Greedy Green Goats

Hills & Fleurieu based weed and blackberry solution

WHAT GGG OFFER

GGG is an organic alternative to weed control with no dangerous herbicides and no burning of fossil fuels.  We have a range of goats that can be hired out to assist with weed and blackberry control.  This weed control is important for fire prevention reducing fuel loads throughout the Adelaide Hills.  Solar powered fence netting is used to target problem areas to keep the goats safe.

We charge per area not per day.  No job is too big or small.

Ben also provides a mulching service for any woody debris that the goats have left behind.

We are based in Macclessfield and our goats can be transported to properties within 50 kilometres.

BENEFITS OF USING GGG

There are a number of benefits to using Greedy Green Goats as your weed solution.

When goats eat Blackberry, they aren’t spreading the seed as they grind it up and their waste turns into bio-mass.  The issue with spraying Blackberry is that it just dries off and turns into more fuel for fires.  Slashing spreads the seeds and spraying is detrimental to your health, soil, and water quality.

The great thing about goats is they can access inaccessible terrains where it is too dangerous to get machines and vehicles in.  Goats are much better for the environment and they promote a high-quality eco-system.

Greedy Green Goats are also an organic solution for fire prevention.  High fuel loads on properties in the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu can be a concern in the warmer months.  Letting goats do what they love most ensures there is no burning of fossil fuels and prepares you for a safer summer.

The wellbeing of our goats is of high-priority to us.  They are checked upon once a day by GGG staff and are provided with shelter, water and they are supplemented with grains.  This means you don’t need to do anything to personally look after them while they are on your property.

Frequently asked questions

Do the goats completely eradicate Blackberry's?

No. Because the seed is already in the ground, the goats can only eat what is above the ground.  Fully eradicating Blackberry requires the regrowth from that seed to be dealt with across a 5-7 year period.  Consecutive maintenance may require less time and money.

Do I have to look after the goats while they are on my property?

No. Our team look after them daily between drop off and pickup. We ensure they are safe, watered and fed with supplementary grain.

Will the goats have free-reign on my property?

No. We install solar powered electrical fencing to ensure they sare kept in the confined area.

Can other pets or farm animals mix with the goats?

No. Dogs like to play with the goats but the goats are spooked easily.  The electric solar netting keeps the goats in and other animals out.

How long are the goats on my property for?

This depends on the size of the job which is agreed upon before the job starts.

Are you insured and what does it cover?

Yes.  We are ensured for Public Liability and Loss of Stock.
